We have recently completed the installation of The St Georges Hill Golf Club Performance Centre which opened in early March 2012. The Performance Centre offers state of the art video teaching facilities conducted with James Bishop PGA Pro.

In conjunction with swing analysis, visitors to the centre will also be able to refer to consultant physiotherapist Martin O'Connell, to discuss human movement and swing dynamics and how it affects our body and health status. Martin conducts a variety of movement screenings to determine imbalances. These are then corrected to enhance the individuals golfing performance. This is achieved by putting together a performance plan specific to assist in the client's development and health.
A technical and bio-mechanical approach to give golfers the best opportunity of improving their playing ability
Both Martin and James examine parts of the swing from a technical and bio-mechanical approach to give golfers the best opportunity of improving their playing ability. To aid them in this they decided to use the Swingia Balance Plate installed by Golf Swing Systems. The balance plate enables the pupil to see their weight distribution at set-up and during the swing.
It also shows kinetic force against the ground at impact along with weight dispersion on both feet between heel and toe. With this information it enables a quick diagnosis as to what is going on in an individuals swing, and what areas need to be worked on.
The Balance Plate has been a popular addition to The Performance Centre and James has seen the benefits in using it.
By analysing where someone's weight is in their feet at set up, during the golf swing, and at impact it enables me to diagnose weight transference, swing path and angle of attack. With the readings the balance plate gives me, I can then link them to ball flight characteristics and the clubface angle at impact. By using The Swingia Balance Plate it enables me to quickly see what area the pupil needs to address and also prepare a coaching programme for their golfing development.
