Bringing the Vision to Life: Our Work at GolfQube Cheltenham
As the team at Golf Swing Systems, we’re delighted to share the story behind our collaboration with GolfQube Cheltenham — from conception and design to installation, and ultimately to opening a truly next-generation indoor golf destination. In this blog post we’ll walk you through the project from our perspective: what GolfQube wanted, how we delivered, and what this means for golfers in the region.
Bringing the Vision to Life: Our Work at GolfQube Cheltenham
Project Brief & Vision
When GolfQube chose Cheltenham as the launch location for their flagship indoor golf facility, they set an ambitious goal: to create a space that would merge high-end technology with approachable, welcoming design for golfers of all levels. According to GolfQube’s own “About Us” page, their aim is to build “a hub for golfers of every level” powered by “the latest technology” and “PGA-qualified professionals”.
GolfQube approached us to design, supply, and install the range of simulator / indoor driving-range bays, fittings and enclosures, plus the supporting infrastructure. For us, this was more than just delivering hardware: it was about creating the environment, the flow, and the experience that would allow that vision to become tangible.
Our Design Approach
From Golf Swing Systems’ own description, we specialise in the complete indoor setup for a commerical centre. Taking that expertise into the GolfQube Cheltenham project, our approach can be summarised in three phases:
1. Space planning & layout
-
We reviewed the floor space at GolfQube’s chosen location (Unit P3, Kingsditch Retail Park, Tewkesbury Road, Gloucestershire, GL51 9PX). The layout needed to include multiple private TrackMan-powered indoor driving range bays, simulator bays where users can play virtual rounds on world-famous courses, and custom fitting / retail area. We designed each bay to deliver both premium performance and a welcoming feel. That meant adequate room depth, safety clearance, clear sight-lines, comfortable user flow.
- By utilising the extra space for an indoor driving range setup, we were able to create a unique feel to the venue in the UK with a fresh and innovative way to practice with Trackman iO.
2. Technology selection & integration
-
GolfQube’s indoor driving range uses the TrackMan iO radar and camera system, which provides shot-tracking data (ball speed, spin, carry distance etc) in real-time.
-
We provided bespoke enclosures, high-quality screens, projectors, LED lighting, mats, flooring and impact nets throughout the centre with a bay aimed at custom fitting, one for private practice and 6 bays on the new driving range, hitting into an impact resistant net.
3. Installation & delivery
-
Our installation team handled the physical build-out of each bay: installation of the structures, projection screens, launch-monitor equipment, wiring and electronics, integration with GolfQube’s IT infrastructure.
-
Since GolfQube targets both serious golfers and beginners/families, we paid close attention to ambience: quality surfacing, comfortable waiting / lounge space, clear sightlines, and enjoyable user experience.
-
We collaborated with the GolfQube team to train staff on the tech and ensure they could manage the day-to-day use, maintenance and coaching bookings.
Challenges & Solutions
No large-scale installation of this kind comes without its challenges. Here are a few that stood out and how we addressed them:
-
Depth & space constraints: Indoor bays require a minimum ‘flight space’ for accurate data. We worked closely with the architect/layout team to maximise bay depth and ensure each bay was safe and the data provided was accurate.
-
User segmentation: GolfQube had to serve a wide range of users — complete beginners, juniors, casual fun golfers, and serious performance-driven players. Our solution: Trackman bays with games (Closest to the Pin, Bullseye) for fun users, and full TrackMan analytics for serious users.
-
Technology commissioning & calibration: Systems like TrackMan demand careful calibration (radar, camera alignment, lighting conditions) to ensure reliable data. Our installation team applied rigorous commissioning protocols to test and sign off each bay indiivdually, especially when commissioning the new driving range as this tracking method is brand new to the UK.
-
Integration with booking & retail: The facility combines range, simulator, lessons, club-fitting, retail. Ensuring that the tech, bookings, payments and coaching flows all align required close coordination with GolfQube’s operations and IT team.
Outcome & Impact
The finished facility at GolfQube Cheltenham is, in our view, a showcase of indoor golf re-imagined. Key outcomes:
-
A year-round practice environment: Rain or shine, dusk or dawn, golfers can hit real shots, get meaningful feedback, and work on their game. GolfQube themselves describe it as “your all-weather tee time”.
-
High-tech data for improvement: With each bay equipped with TrackMan, golfers receive instant feedback: ball speed, spin rate, carry distance, club path.
-
Retail + custom fitting synergy: Alongside the bays, GolfQube offers a super-store of golf equipment and custom fitting. Our installation of the bays supports this by providing the proper test environment for new clubs and custom fitting sessions as well.
-
Community hub: The space is designed to be more than just a practice bay; it’s a social space for golfers in Gloucestershire and beyond to gather, improve and stay engaged with the game.
From our vantage, the project has successfully translated a vision into reality: a space where technology, coaching, and retail co-exist under one roof to elevate the golf experience.
Our Reflections & Learnings
Working on GolfQube Cheltenham has reaffirmed several lessons for our team:
-
Start with experience, not just tech: It’s easy to focus solely on the launch monitor or simulator, but the surrounding experience (layout, ambience, flow, comfort) matters hugely in a commercial venue.
-
Flexibility is key: The facility needed to cater to many user types — so we built bays and systems flexible enough for relaxed fun play and serious training alike.
-
Collaboration drives success: From our inside view, the success of this project was very much down to the close partnership between our team and the GolfQube operations, retail and coaching teams.
Looking Ahead
For us at Golf Swing Systems, GolfQube Cheltenham is both a milestone and a springboard. It demonstrates how indoor golf centres can raise the bar — and it aligns with our mission of providing bespoke, high-quality indoor golf solutions for commercial and coaching venues alike.
We look forward to supporting GolfQube as they expand their network across the UK, and to applying the insights from this flagship-build into future projects. For the region around Cheltenham, this facility offers something new and dynamic for golfers. And for our team, it’s gratifying to see a vision we helped build now fully in play.

And if you’re considering building or upgrading an indoor golf facility yourself— whether coaching studio, club fitting bay, or commercial centre — we at Golf Swing Systems would be happy to share our experience. From space planning to technology selection, installation, and commissioning, we’ve done it before — and GolfQube Cheltenham is one of our proudest recent examples.
